Last issue Storm Trooper. Vintage uniform and accessories on the Left, 40th on the right.
My vintage example has a replacement breast eagle. The 40th one is wearing vintage jackboots as I just don't like 40th ones. Both uniforms are on vintage figures as nobody likes a 40th EE
. Apart from the noticeable colour difference, it's not a bad repro at all. One thing that let's the 40th down is the webbing. The vintage webbing feels much nicer, as the 40th is smaller, plasticy and the buckle isn't as well made. The 40th helmet is thicker, shinier and has more blue in it. And the tunic decals are prone to dropping off.
i think id rather the childhood vam ten the 40th as its got soo much along with him .. the jerry with the orange eps is the one that should have you German field police dog chain on and the wee arm badge as orange is the field police colour . as red is artillery
..VAME is the best an Action man can get .....there can only be one ....there is only one ..... VAME....
I love that you have your childhood figure id definitely restore his outfit to its former glory and dads sorry mate but the field police colour was green,i tried to get those but they were always sold out
But... He's my childhood Jerry, you can't 'buy' that.. He's wearing the woollie socks my Nan knitted...How special is that? My grandad repaired his broken hand...which is all I now have left of my Tommy Gunn Captain Scarlet! The reasons my differ, but everything deserves a place in a collection.
Too true . you can buy replacements but never the same as the one you had as a kid. The socks you can never replace and every time you look at him you will remember your Nan & Grandad , Very special indeed.
Apologies for the repost... but here is a variation I tried a little while back. A pair of 40th Colditz sentries with last issue webbing and dark green helmets from Cotswold (which have the Wehrmacht shield and the eagle logo in either silver or gold on either side).
The figures and boots are both vintage, by the way.
The image is a bit on the dark side... but take my word for it... they look stunning in the flesh, as it were.
