Hello Folks,
Further to my ‘Takara Combat Joe Loft Find’ post last week, I thought I’d post a few more pictures of the Takara Combat Joes, from my old collection, which I’ve been slowly extricating from the dark recesses of my loft.
I’ve managed to reach another box over the weekend, so here are a few pictures of what it contained.
The articulated Takara figure is very similar to the talking GI Joe Body, in design, which it licensed from Hasbro, the neck post is the same, so it is possible to fit a GI Joe Head or Action Man Head to the Takara body if the original Takara head sculpts aren’t to your liking.
The Takara articulated figures themselves are very strong and robust, the joints are very firm and pose easily.
Takara produced a series of seven unique uniforms for these figures in 1984, building on their earlier success with their similar combat Joe line of figures released in the 1970’s for the Japanese Market.
Anyway, here’s a few pictures of the figures and outfits which I’ve unearthed so far, which might be of interest to some of you.
I have a couple more boxes to dig out of the loft so will post more pictures if I find anything interesting in them.
The Figures are:
WW2 German Panzer Captain figure & outfit
WW2 German Wehrmacht Officer figure & outfit
WW2 American Infantry Soldier outfit
American California Highway Patrol Motorcycle Police Officer outfit
Takara Nude Articulated Figure.
The ChiPs outfit in particular is very nicely made and has a lot of detailed accessories, the equipment belt is very nicely moulded to show the tooling detail of the leather, it even has a set of plastic handcuffs in a pouch on the rear as well as extra rounds for the revolver in two pouches on the front. There is also a white tee shirt, in the set, which isn’t pictured as it was a little grubby and the missus instead on washing it if I was going to display the figures. ( I not sure how well that’s going to turn out, we’ll have see)
The helmet sun glasses and the shotgun are meant to be painted to finish them off, but I think this would spoil the originality of the set, so I’m leaving them as found.
The best bit is I didn’t even know I had the ChiPs outfit, I knew I had the three German sets as I bought them together, then the WW2 American set later, but I’d completely forgotten I bought the CHiPs set.
I’m looking forward even more to rediscovering what else there is in the last couple of boxes in the loft now.
Hope you enjoy the pictures.
