This chap of mine is currently listed on eBay. I think that the moustache works really well!
Spurs were reconstructed from various (VAM) parts as was the belt and sword hanger. I have found that with "Explorer Stormsure 7190 Clear Adhesive" you can weld the vinyl quite easily - even edge to edge or end to end. Liquid Poly does the spurs nicely. If you click on the images and then zoom in, you can just see a couple of faint repair lines. I don't always go as far as I can disguising repairs if the plan is to sell on. I think it's more honest that way and it also show some of the item's history. Cheers Andy
The life guard was certainly made for a few years after the Blues and Royals but I've always suspected it was made for a short while before as well. Although they both appear as new uniforms in the 1971 equipment manual, as a kid I just remember the life guard uni was everywhere (Toy shops, mail order catalogues etc) for what seemed like ages before the Blues and Royals appeared.
The Life Guard outfit came as a set with the horse, A carded outfit, Boxed as a complete dressed figure with breast plates or a dressed figure in the display box. The helmet was in the full parade Accoutrement set. The Blues only came as the dressed figure in the display box(no breast plates) or a carded outfit
Fantastic set up there m8 .also the we photo of him in his uniform One thing the wee hat he got on was wearing it to the side of the head how it was or was it how they liked to wear it .
As my dad used to wear a officers type cap and it never sat on top his head it was on the side or hanging off the back his head never sitting on top lol . Like the paras they put the beret to the side and cap badge to the side the head . So I guess some REGIMENTS decide on how to ware the hats berets cap badges themselves . So was your gramps hat to side to the side or on top ..
Went down the cheap road to buy the horse ! A 40th horse and tack is about £60 …A boxed Action Man and Tommy Gunn (Zodiac)horse are up to £200. I found and bought off eBay a boxed Rachel Horse(Zodiac) same as the Tommy Gunn one for only £20 Also bought the 40th Full Parade Accoutrement set. £35 Thought I had come unstuck when I came to put it all together as NO saddle is in the Accoutrement set The saddle obviously came with the horse !!!! Luckily the Zodiac saddle accommodates all straps ect
Note…. Had to do a little bit of fettling to get the bridle bit to fit in the horses mouth.
