Swords and Scabbards
The 40th scabbard has a smaller squarer hole.
The 40th sword has a straighter thinner flat blade. The vintage has a curved blade with a slight groove down the centre.
it also has a cut out on the hilt handle where the lanyard fits through, the 40th just has a slot.
Lanyard Tassel
The vintage tassel has 3 complete rings, the 40th only has one.
The vintage hilt guard cover has a rounder hole and a mould mark.
The Belt
the 40th belt is smooth and has a larger joining ring, the vintage buckle has a mould mark on the rear.
Breast Plates
The vintage breast plates have a scratched appearance on the reverse side. the mould marks are different. The 40th have a shinny look. The chrome plating is poor and sticks to the packaging if not opened very carefully.
Bottom strap
The vintage strap has a mould mark / pip on both half's. the 40th is smooth
Top straps
The vintage strap is better quality. The buckle has more detail. 40th straps have a looser weave, buckle has mould marks and lacks detail. the gold paint is poor quality and scratches off easily.
