Hi all, took a trip to the Hamilton Toy Collection (Callander Toy Museum) up here in Callander (Perthshire) today. Cram packed full of childhood memories and not a bad collection of VAM, well over a hundred dressed figures across pretty much the whole range plus a fair amount of vehicles and the like. There are some faux pas when it comes to the correct accessories on the right figures but if you can overlook that (or just enjoy spotting the deliberate mistakes!) it's worth a visit if you're up this way, and not just for the VAM. They may not be mint, but it's nice to see that many out in the open so to speak. They also had a small range of figures and accessories for sale, I picked up some second and third issue Equipment Manuals and a Second Issue Intelligence Manual for a reasonable sum (although what I really wanted was the pristine Mk2 Raleigh Chopper in red, just like my old one, but that's another story). Far better than the last time I visited the Edinburgh Toy Museum, they had about three VAM and two Tommy Gunn and they were all incorrectly labelled! I'm going to try to post a pic, if it works I'll add more, if it doesn't then apologies in advance!
Nice pics - that's a lot of VAM for a toy museum! I visited the Edinburgh toy museum recently as well, and was a tad disappointed by the Action Man/Tommy Gunn display. I wasn't sure whether to tell them about the mistakes or whether they were meant to be displayed as found in someone's toy box!
The little museums are good fun. I posted some photos from a visit to a toy museum in Malta on the old VAME site. It seems a shame for the photos of the toy museums to be lost in VAM chat. Would there be any interest in a new section for photos of visits to toy museums and the like?
Glad you liked the pictures guys, dead chuffed I managed to get them on here without breaking something! Great idea about a dedicated forum thingy, and very impressed at the speed at which it was actioned, I like this site a lot!
