I have been a lifelong fan of the 1966 Adam West Batman TV show, so 2014 was a watershed year for me starting with these two bad boys...
The outer packaging...
Side view...
Rear view...
Inner packaging...
Rear inners...
Top inners...
Under the top flaps...
When you slide each figure out of the inner packaging, the plastic vacu-form packaging is mounted in a cardboard box with opening windows so that the figures can be displayed doing their trademark "wall climb"...
Batman...
Interchangeable hands, faces and Bat-accessories...
The caped crusader on his display stand...
Rear view...
A close up of that very detailed face. Superb paint job...
The interchangeable jaws are held in place by magnets...
I think this is my prefered face...
Adam West's "constipated" expression...
"Hand me down the Shark Repellent Bat Spray!"
"Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb!"
Look how closely the sculpt matches the original from the 1966 Batman movie...
With the Bat radio...
Comes complete with Batusi hands!!!
Bat disco moves...
Ready for some "Pow", "Zap" action...
With Batarang and Bat Rope...
Robin...
Hands and accessories...
The Boy Wonder on his display stand...
Rear view...
The head sculpt...
With the Bat Cuffs...
With the Bat Radio...
Ready for a Bat-fight...
Even comes with hands to reproduce Robin's classic "fist in palm" pose...
WIth the Batarang and Bat Rope...
The Dynamic Duo...
Hot Toys are also bringing out a huge, one-sixth scale Batmobile to go with these figures. Get thee behind me Satan!
However, the Bat-highlight of the year was yet to come in November.
Holy limited edition box sets Batman! I am in Bat Heaven!
After being tied up in legal wrangles for years the Batman TV series finally saw its first ever release on a home video format. Not only that but on high definition Blu Ray disc as well. All 3 seasons (120 episodes) plus hours of extras as well as two books, a model Batmobile and a deck of bubblegum cards.
The transfers are stunning as Warner has restored the episodes from the original camera negatives. Believe me you have never seen this series look like this. The episodes look like they were filmed yesterday. Image detail is superb and the bright comic book style colours virtually pop off the screen they are so vivid!
This has been No 1 on my video wish list ever since the days of VHS and I can hardly believe it's here at last and looking absolutely amazing!
In a series filled with weird and wonderful moments, nothing was quite so surreal as seeing the screen credit "Special Guest Villain - Liberace..."
Before/after restoration comparison...
