Uniform - the material is very similar. The eagle patch is larger on vintage. The red flashes are different. Stiching in vintage is a close match the 40th stiching is a lighter green than uniform. And of course Hong Kong label in vintage.
Medal - the sticker is the giveaway. Also 40th is very shiny and prongs are more rounded.
Helmet - 40th is more blue in colour and the sticker is smaller. Vintage stamped Hasbro Hong Kong inside.
Machine Pistol - Vintage is darker grey and more metallic/sparkly looking. 40th has round mould marks on magazine and side.
Grenades - completely different colour - 40th very grey.
Rucksack - 40th very furry, lighter colour
Boots - 40th less black and matt.
Ammo belt - Vintage is slightly wider, blacker and the moulding on pouches is deeper.
Luger - again colour difference and moulding is different.
