Action Man 50th Anniversary Celebration

If our coveted action man went through today's tests, it would have same warnings. It would not pass some of the tests either. But we know it was and is a toy.

I'll take my hat off to all the effort involved and as much as I like the display box and kit but...that looks more like one of those cheap power team sculpts from a few years back, if your going to do justice to a legend of the game at least try and get the head right, it can't be hard, those football figures I used to buy my lad actually looked like the players

But isn't that rather missing the point of Action Man's appeal?  Much of the success of the Action Man range was because it allowed kids to use their own imaginations.  If you sell a figure as Bobby Moore that looks like Bobby Moore, then that's all he is.

On the other hand, I can see that a range that looks like Bobby Moore or indeed other famous footballers might sell to football fans of a certain age.  It's just not an Action Man.

There's some Action Man content on Channel 5 at 10pm tonight in a programme called Greatest Christmas TV Adverts ever.

I wish I could have gone, and that photo op cut out was a stroke of genius............but that 'Bobby Moore' sculpt? Truly awful. It should have been endorsed by Alexander Armstrong, because it was bloody Pointless!
